Common Traits
All osteichthyes or also known as bony fish, have all these features. Most of them have skeletons made of bones, bony fishes also make up 98% of all the fishes in the world. With overlapping scales, the fish much smoother than sharks. Two operculums are part of the body as well. Operculums are flaps on the side of the fish's body that lay over the gill, they act like a back door for water filtering through the gills. One of the last things that all osteichthyes posses is a swim bladder; an organ that helps the fish regulate their depth in the water. All things Considered, bony fishes have exceptional bodies.
